A LEGEND OF ZELDA BLANKET FOR BABY BROTHER CAT!

At last! Baby Brother Cat's long awaited (as in almost a month overdue) Christmas present! Baby Cat just put the finishing touches on this granny square blanket that she has been working on for him.

The squares form the pixels of an 8-bit image of Link, the main character from Legend of Zelda. This little guy doesn't look like he has very many pixels, but Baby Cat learned otherwise when she crocheted 288 squares to make the blanket! It was fun to make, though. Best of all, it didn't even require a pattern, just a quick refresher on how to make a granny square, and this picture to go off of:

Now, Link just has to make the long journey to Eugene via the postal service. Merry Christmas, Baby Brother! Stay warm and dream of defeating Ganon!

Love,

Big Sister Cat

Remember Fiancé Cat's Mario Blanket?
These blankets are so fun and cute that it's easy to forget how much time they take.
Luckily, I've only made them for people I like an awful lot!

  1. Both blankets are fantastic, Baby Cat! You must be really happy to have this last one under your belt. How many hours did you put into it, do you think? xo Jennifer

    1. Thanks! It is really hard to estimate the exact amount of time it took since I worked on it little by little on the bus to school and during breaks at work. I think it took me about 15 minutes per square x 288 squares, so that's about 72 hours just for the squares. I'm not sure about the assembly by I wouldn't be surprised if it took another 12 hours or more to sew everything together and get the border on. That's a good 3.5 to 4 days of blanket making if I had done it all without stopping!

Luckily, such a big project seems so much more manageable if you just have to focus on doing it one square at a time!

  3. This is great! I was looking for a pixel art idea for a granny square blanket. Where did you find the pixel map? Did you follow that diagram exact?

    1. Thanks! I just did a google search for "Legend of Zelda 8-bit blanket) and found a diagram and several examples of blankets through that. I did follow the diagram exactly. The only thing I added was two rows of crochet around the edge to make the brown border.

I know how hard you worked on Baby Brother Cat's blanket. You must be exhausted! But, I know he loved it. You are such a great sister to him. It warms my heart to see how much you two love and care about each other.
